Simplifying what’s on
The challenge
Leeds City Council needed a more efficient way to manage listings across Visit Leeds and Leeds 2023. With multiple sources feeding into the system and a reliance on manual processes, keeping event and venue content consistent and up to date was time-consuming. The team were looking for a scalable solution that could streamline admin, reduce duplication, and support smarter content curation across their destination platforms.
The approach
To simplify content management and improve data consistency, Visit Leeds adopted CultureHosts as its central listings engine. The platform now manages both manually submitted listings and automated inbound feeds, all structured to a consistent data model that supports search, filtering and smart curation. A direct API connection ensures that content is always up to date, feeding live event and venue information straight into the Visit Leeds website. This approach significantly reduces the need for manual editing, while still giving local partners the ability to upload their own content through the CultureHosts Partner Portal. It’s a hybrid model that combines editorial control with automation—ensuring the site remains current, comprehensive and locally relevant, with minimal overhead.
Why It Works
CultureHosts provides a single, structured source of truth for cultural content. Event and venue listings are consistently formatted and categorised, enabling smart curation across Visit Leeds’ digital channels. The system supports both direct upload and automated feeds, offering flexibility for different partners.
Looking Ahead
Following the success of its listings integration, Visit Leeds is now exploring how CultureHosts can support connected bookability. The aim is to build on the discovery foundation already in place, allowing users to not only browse what’s on but also book experiences through the same joined-up system.
