Regional discovery at scale
The challenge
The West Midlands is home to well-known cities like Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Warwick, but the region wasn’t widely recognised as a cultural destination.
Without a single place to see what was happening, it was hard for visitors and locals to discover events across the region. Cultural listings were fragmented, and destination teams had no easy way to share or promote what was on.
The region needed a clearer, more connected way to tell its cultural story.
The approach
To solve this, the West Midlands Growth Company launched Culture and Tourism Connected, powered by CultureHosts. The aim: to give the region a shared digital infrastructure that could bring local organisers, DMOs, and cultural venues into one system.
CultureHosts made it easy for partners to list events and experiences once, and share them automatically across multiple destination websites. Through API integrations, content flowed between councils, tourism boards, and cultural platforms, giving audiences a joined-up view of what’s on. Allowing for visitors and residents to explore and enjoy what the city has to offer
The Impact
The project gave the West Midlands a practical, place-wide way to manage cultural listings while giving local teams the tools to keep things updated and growing.
With CultureHosts, they now have a model for collaborative promotion that supports their visitor economy, celebrates local culture, and gives audiences a reason to explore more.
